Boot Camp (Day 2)

I was truly thrilled to know what would happened on the second day of my Boot Camp as the activities we had on Day One was pretty much EXCITING although it may look pretty lamO to some of you!! HAha..maybe I missed my childhood days *winks*

Yet day two started off unexpectedly –the reason I say so was because we were supposed to give a short presentation on what we have learned the previous day.
Gosh..its all about PRESENTATIONS ~~kinda scarry everytime you hear the motivator tells you

“Alrite guys and girls , next each of you will be required to give a presentation on bla~~~~”

Aikss..I never like presentation!! It gives me goose bumps the moment I hear that word !!

Oh well, thank goodness UTAR university days has pretty much train us well to give presentations in front of the class.(*Applauds*) Although I’m still not a very good presenter...at least I have the guts to get out there stand in front of a large crowd to open my mouth…Oh well…whatever happens after that ..I’d leave it to fate..hahaha…

Back to my boot camp ---

Today we were assigned with a list during our lunch break – some sort of a Treasure Hunt list as below;

1. 15 different types of dried leaves
2. 10 different types of flowers
3. White Hair – 7 inches long
4. Mosquitos – 3 “LIVE “ MosQuitos (o.O)
5. One pair of red stocking
6. Five cent coins - 20 five cent coins

The list seems pretty reasonable yet yet …there's one real challenge for us to get LIVE MOSQUITOS!! OmGosh ..where are we to get live mosquitos in broad day light??!!??
(*scratch*~~)

Haha..it took us 2 and the half hours to do the treasure hunting which includes our lunch break. Pretty much can say we didn’t have a very good meal as we have a dateline to meet after lunch. However, each team managed to come back with most of the items except most of us didnt meet the requirements for that LIVE MOSQUITOS. Mind you..at least my group managed to catch 2 live mosquitos along with a live spider (hahha..that live spider was to replace the THIRD live mosquito!! *KIDDIN*)

See below how creative some of our groups can get when we had to create something out of the treasure hunt list.

Group 1 : Flower Massage Parlour.

Group 2: Jungle Flowers

Group 3: A bouquet of flowers and an Organic Money Boat

Me and my group members

Next we had the “EGG CHALLENGE GAME”
Each team was given an egg and we had to use straws and cellophane tape to protect the egg from breaking when it is dropped 6 Feet above ground level. Easy as it looks at first sight..yet it was pretty much a challenge to us as engineers to find ways to protect the egg.

See below to believe it!! Some pictures of what crazy engineers like us came up with BEFORE and AFTER the test.

Enjoy watching the funny videos of EGGs dropping from 6 FEET!!

And here’s how the MESS looks like after the test…

CONCLUSION!!

ALL ENGINEERS FAILED QUALITY TEST!!
LOL!!*swt*!!

Believe it or not!!

It is indeed possible to SAVE those eggs from breaking if you’re SMART ENOUGH!! (>.<)

Oh well..that's the end of our FUN BOOT CAMP for two days and we'd be proceeding on to more "PRESeNTATIONS & Self-Studying Classes"

BOOt CAMP (Day 1)

As I entered class the first day of a brand new week, I was pretty much tired after the SHORT weekend I had. Therefore, I was having all sorts of thoughts running through my mind …..“Today I have to attend a Boot Camp?? Oh boy…this is gonna be hell BORING!! What the heck has boot camp got to do with my work??!!??” These were the first thoughts that came into my mind when I was informed that I had to attend a boot camp at Shah Alam. I could say I have never attended such camps or Orientation events in my life..What more to say about a person like me who never in my life attended my own Orientation Day in school or even during my college and university days. Guess I had no choice since it was a must for me to attend this “BOOT CAMP” ..Well…let’s just say that I wanted to change my lifestyle once I start working. It’s definitely something new for me ..truly new for me to attend my 1st Orientation at work two weeks back and now attend a BOOT CAMP *winks* **AM SO EXCITEEEEDD!!!

The “BOOT CAMP” which I was actually asked to attend was more like a motivational course which I had to participate since I joined my new work place. It’s sort of like a survival thingy which we had to undergo as *trainee*. There are 18 of us which have to go through this exercise.
New as we were at the motivational venue, we were practically warmly welcomed by the motivator and briefed what this whole boot camp thingy was about and we practically had activities which were related to the topics thought.

At the beginning, the motivator had this activity called “Introducing a Stranger Friend”. It was truly a unique method of “ICE-BREAKING” For this activity, each of us had to draw a picture of ourselves and then hand it over to the motivator; who would then randomly distribute the pictures around to the rest of the class. From this point onwards, we were given 15minutes to identify our “not so stranger friend” and interview him/her. In other words, try to get as many details as possible regarding his or her background and tell why you like him or her. *ScReech*~~ “ WHArrtt??!! How would we be able to tell why we like him or her when we barely know each and everyone in the class even it has been already two weeks we’ve been together?? ” (P.S : HINT!! Please~~ THINK OUT OF THE BOX ya!!!) Once this part is done, each and everyone of us were to introduce our “not so stranger” friend. Here we had some good story tellers which kept the class alive. I wished I had video taped the part where my stranger friend introduced me. It was a young chap who introduced me, which I’d say he did a good job till the part where the motivator asked him

“So ..what is interesting about her that make u like her?”
The entire class pretty much looked at him; waiting eagerly for what he had to say. Immediately you could see the shyness in him and he got so shy that he looked at the floor while his fair skin couldn’t hide his shyness that he almost turned into a lobsters. Hahaha…*cute* ~~ as he is the instructor ask him to “THINK OUT OF THE BOX” (P.s : Same goes to all of you out there!!)

Anyway, here are some pictures of my cute friends below.

Here’s the guy whom I had to identify and interview!!! Mr.Das

Our Little Princess of the Class..Miss Chia Chi

The MANGA freak...Miss HL

And finally the SCRAwWWRY picture which I drew of MYSELF..bwaahahaha..who would have imagined that it was me??!!??

Next, we had to create something interesting using LEGO sets. Hahaha…don’t this activity sound like were back to kindergarten. Gosh!! It has truly been a while ever since I played with LEGO sets and the worst part of the activity was… we were given only two boxes of LEGO set which the 18 of us had to randomly just grab whatever we can from the box to create something interesting. We barely had 15mins to get the job done. Our creations were then displayed to be judged by our motivator.

This is what I came out with ….let me introduce you to my *cute* little flying dragon …hahaha..

My LITTLE FLYING DRAGON (^.^)

Amazing that I could come up with something interesting with limited LEGO parts. Gosh!! Stare especially at the eyes ain’t the eyes look a little “SEPEK”???!!?? ..more like it has a MIANG look!! *eewwWW*
Believe it or not ..my FLYING DRAGON was rated as extraordinary with another two other creations.

Below here are some interesting creations which my *creative* colleagues came up with!! Truly amazing imagination *winks*

Everyone's Creation!!

Today’s lunch break was exceptionally special. Guess what!!??!! We were so happy when the motivator told us we had 2hours lunch break….however..the excitement doesn’t just stop here. We were given more *excitement* when we were told that we had to approach a minimum of six strangers or more to their business card. Besides that, we were also asked to get to know the stranger and briefly interview him regarding his occupation and ask several other questions in order to get his opinion. This was rather a tough task for most of us as majority of us encountered a not so favourable times such as we were shooed off from the shops or some people were not too willing to entertain us. Maybe because we still look like kiddies or either they may think that we were salesgirls trying to approach them to buy our so called “products”…CRAP!!!

OH well..at least I know now how it feels like getting rejected or shooed away!! *Hmmpphh* I didn’t bother much as I have pretty much predicted such scenarios especially when I’m going to approach a stranger. Who would blame them for being like that..maybe there’s just one thing which I may blame each and everyone of us …which is.. “Why can’t we just give 5minutes to listen to what the other person needs before rejecting that person nicely? Is it so difficult to just spare a minute or two??”

Anyway, this question wasn’t my main concern when I had no choice but to get 6 business cards by hook or by crook. I was more like running about like crazy from Tesco to the Business center hoping not to get rejected by anyone. However, I was rejected a few times by some people after some of my other colleagues who were faster than me had gone there already. *SOB*~~~ Guess, it was too bad for me at that time =( At the end of the day, I managed to get a chance to interview 9 persons and got hold of 8 Business cards . Besides that, I made friend with some of the interviewees who were nice and charming =)

The last activity we had before we go home was the rope activity. We were asked to build a house using a rope *winks* Mind you that it wasn’t that easy as you thought it would be when there were 10 of the people ( house builder) were blindfolded and the rest of us stood there as the observers. We were given 5minutes to plan out who were the blind builders and who are the observers as well as how we were to construct the house. I was the observer who then had the chance to take a short and interesting video clip of the activity.

Preparing to Start the Game

Enjoy the video clip!!

We the observers were somehow being persuaded or more like sounded from the motivator for not helping the “blind builders”…*Shy* *Shy*~~

Overall, day one was pretty much fun and exciting throughout the entire period which reminds me how much I miss my childhood days where we get to play the entire day!!

Catch me DAY 2 of BOOT CAMP soon!! =)
